In memory of Fabian Dorsch

It is with immense sadness that we greet the news of the death of Fabian Dorsch, Associate Research Professor at the Philosophy Department of the University of Fribourg, and the founding member and former secretary of the European Society for Aesthetics. In addition to his numerous academic activities and acute philosophical work, Fabian was really the driving force behind the society in its early stages and it was originally his idea of establishing a European society for aesthetics that would cover the whole continent. Without his efforts, the ESA would most likely not exist at all or would look very different today. Fabian was an intelligent, open-minded, and warm person who did everything to create a welcoming atmosphere to the ESA conferences that have collected together scholars from very diverse backgrounds, both intellectually and geographically. The ESA committee joins a number of colleagues worldwide in missing him. He is survived by his wife Evgenia and his son, Maxim, to whom we send our deepest condolences. In honor of Fabian’s great efforts to the ESA, the newly launched ESA Essay Prize will be named after him and the next ESA conference to be held in Berlin in May will be dedicated to Fabian’s memory.
